The main attraction, of course, is the bridge itself! The views of the Capilano River and the forest around it are stunning. Walking across the narrow, bouncy bridge gave us quite a thrill.
Treetops Adventure
I believe it’s really worth exploring the Treetops Adventure while you’re at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. It consists of seven bridges and several viewing platforms that hang as high as 33 meters (110 feet) above the ground. This experience truly surrounds you with the ancient forest. Interestingly, some of the Douglas fir trees that the adventure course is connected to are hundreds of years old!
Cliffwalk
Besides the suspension bridge, the Cliffwalk is our top pick in the park! It lets you see the river canyon from a whole new angle, following the granite cliff and even featuring glass panels for a view straight down 70 meters (230 feet) into the canyon. It made my heart race a bit, but I absolutely enjoyed the stunning views.
The Living Forest
This walkway is an educational exhibit about the West Coast Rainforest. Here, you can learn about the forest ecology and the animals that live in this park! We liked walking along it and looking at the signs with information and interactive parts. We were amazed to find out that some of the trees here are more than 1,500 years old.
Birds of Raptors Ridge
This place is open only in the summer, and I think it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re here between May and October. Raptors Ridge teaches visitors about saving and helping Canadian birds, especially owls and hawks. There are 15 kinds of birds here. We were glad to know that the birds go back to the main Raptors Ridge place in Maple Ridge every night. This lets them fly and find food naturally. Also, no bird stays at Capilano for two days in a row.
Kia’palano
Capilano Suspension Bridge Park has more than just pretty views. We loved learning about the Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations’ culture. Hearing their stories and seeing their cool artwork was super interesting. The big totem poles carved right in the park were our favorite!
Nature’s Edge Boardwalk
Even though this walkway is on the ground, we loved the views of the forest floor and Capilano River from here. It goes under parts of the Treetops Adventure, which we enjoyed because it lets us walk through the forest without disturbing any plants or animals. Also, if you’re not comfortable with heights, it’s a nice break from that!

Yes! This park is a huge adventure playground, but it’s not too scary, so it’s great for kids. When we visited, we saw lots of children having a blast on the bridge, the Treetops Adventure, and the Cliffwalk. However, if your child is afraid of heights, they might find it challenging.
There’s also a fun Rainforest Explorer Program that helps kids explore the park on their own adventure through the trees. They can pick up booklets at the Treehouse at the start of the Treetops Adventure and then solve games and puzzles as they explore the park. If you visit in the summer, make sure to come during the day because the park closes by 7 pm at the latest. In winter, deciding between daytime or nighttime visits can be tricky, especially with the lights.
In my opinion, if it’s your first time at Capilano and you’re only going once, daytime is best. But if you can return later in the evening, the Canyon Lights are really special. They’re on from November to January, with park entry until 9 pm and an hour’s grace after closing.
Honestly, visiting this park is all about soaking in the stunning views of the forest and canyon. As amazing as the nighttime lights are, I believe it’s best to prioritize visiting during the day to fully enjoy the forest experience.
Capilano Suspension Bridge vs Lynn Canyon
Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge is like another version of Capilano, and it’s also in North Vancouver. The main advantage of Lynn Canyon over Capilano is that it’s free, and I think it’s definitely worth visiting. As a local, I go to Lynn Canyon more often because there’s no cost.
However, I have to admit that the Capilano Suspension Bridge is more impressive. If possible, I recommend visiting both. But if you only have a couple of days here, I believe Capilano is the better choice. It’s one of Vancouver’s most famous attractions, and I think paying the admission fee is completely worth it.

If you’re renting a car in Vancouver, it’s simple to drive to the suspension bridge, and you can go anywhere else you want afterward! It’s just an 8.8-kilometer (5.5-mile) drive from Vancouver’s downtown to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, which takes about 15 minutes. Parking costs $8 CAD for 3 hours. In the busiest times, there’s extra parking at Handsworth School, and from there, you can catch a free shuttle to the park.

Yes! It’s honestly such a beautiful place to explore, and walking high above the forest and canyon feels truly magical.
The only downside of visiting the park is how crowded it can become, but there are ways to manage this! If you plan to take the free shuttle, I recommend catching the first one of the day, which departs from Canada Place half an hour before the park opens. Starting early is definitely worth it to experience the park before it gets busy around midday.
